Update, 20:45 Sat 13 Sept 08 As usual the score as been almost wholly rewritten in less than 20 minutes this evening to make it sparer, more focussed, and more compelling. There's probably no way except accident that would enable you to recreate what the piece now sounds like.
After more than a fortnight, and at least 10-15 hours of improvisations at the mic (not to mention lots of muttering and tapping at work or walking around town), santiago finally came up with a workable 3 minutes on the theme of money for next week's Freed-up. There won't be any recording of it until after the event, but for now here's the score as sketched in my notebook. The basic piece comes in well under 3 minutes, leaving a lot of space for improvising: crotch rubbing the mic, banging the mic on objects or my head, sequeals and tones, feedback, whatever. Also in improvising I worked out a strategy for incorporating accidentally stopping the loop. For those who either can't enlarge the image, or can't be bothered, a transcript of the score is underneath.
