you want more text festival?

Both in his most recent post here, and in a comment on my last post Tony Trehy has exciting news for those of you who might have missed the readings so far at Bury Text Festival, or who simply want more:

There will be a post-festival publication called "After the Text" - to satisify the demand for documentation. Ron Silliman's and the Bury Poems readings were recorded and will also appear on line. We will be publishing a book by Tom Konyves about video poetry which will include a DVD of the films shown. And the next Festival will be in 2011.

So now you know. His blog post is worth reading in full because there's a lot more in there, but he provides a little more detail about the various projects mentioned in his comments.

In connection (I assume) with the After the Text post-festival publication he mentions that an analytical essay he's writing on Curating Poetry will be in there, and that it 'will hopefully also include essays from Tom Konyves on videopoetry and Geof Huth/Joanne Fitton on Text and Archives, and anyone else I think will fit into it nicely to move the Text Festival dialogue on.'

In connection with the next text festival - that's in 2011 remember - he writes, 'I can reveal that I have already begun to shape it and am negotiating with both Ron [Silliman] and Geof Huth to return with new projects. So if anyone out there has any ideas for the next one, feel free to propose them to me.' That 'me' of course being him, Tony Trehy.

But don't forget:

  • Friday 12 June sees Jesse Glass, Sarah Tremlett, and Judy Kendall in 'an evening of experiment and challenge'
  • Tuesday 30 June is P.Inman.
  • And there are the publications including if p then q's poster set, and
  • The Text Anthology
  • And although I don't think I saw it, Fonoteca - A History of Sound Art by Maurizio Nannucci & Tony Trehy
  • Plus of course you can track down printed works, and in some cases video and/or audio of all the poets involved. And not forgetting all the visual and sound artists featured.

Now is that exciting or what?
