north - the poem continued

This time there's a brief reprise of something from last time because I've edited what originally followed before the poem moves on.

top stones
and the attached fence
hanging
where the wall below
was knocked out
by a car.
vernacular, notepad doodles, roadside flowers for accident victims, pets missing, graffiti, allotment scarecrows and sheds, numbers on wheelie bins, shop and pub blackboards, photos of family and friends, snowmen, singing on the street, toys plastic flowers and windmills graveside, flyers for wanted lost and found, front gardens.
bubbles
up the side of a
glass of water
left overnight.
pegs made from
a split
piece of wood
pinned
with a short tin coil.
without central
heating ice inside
the windows. light
reflected in squares
across the car park
from the windows
of the office opposite.
melted
wax gathered
in white finger pads
shed skin. tap
runs white
briefly. highlights
from gloss paint.
sun
faded
curtains
the bottom
sides
and deeper folds
their original dark.
