your chance to put people off their dinner

I was messaged on twitter yesterday by ManyHands Community Arts Cafe to mention their Poetry Competition. I'm happy to do so on this occasion.

You have until only 15 December (a little over four weeks) to get in your entries. Poems can be up to 50 lines on the theme of Community. There is a fee to enter, £2 for a single poem, £5 for up to three poems, and £8 for up to six poems. Cheques payable to ManyHands Cafe.

The competition will be judged by Copland Smith and winners will be announced by the 1st of January. There's an opportunity to read at the cafe and compete for the position of ManyHands Cafe Poet in Residence.

Don't put your name on the poems, but on a separate page. Send your entry to ManyHands Cafe, 2/20 Napier Road, Chorlton, Manchester, M21 8AW.

I don't know what sort of a chance post-avant/innovative/etc. poets have in this competition but it might be fun to find out.
