energy unstable summer man

Sorry, for some reason unable to post any photos with this entry. There will be an attempt later to edit this, and drop the pictures in. This problem could well delay the next post where images are absolutely integral. It's immensely irritating.

Well here's a bunch of random bits, reflections, half formed notes and shit, starting with a journal-type entry putting it all in context.

It's been a weird couple of weeks, kind of frenetic and febrile. Mostly seeing more of people than has been normal over the last two years. It's destabilising in a good way. Officially the creative hiatus continues, and the moratorium on creative writing is definitely firmly in place (short stories and half-completed poem below excepted), but santiago's brain is full of ideas. Especially for making objects and for other visual art.

On the weekend shooting and editing of the new short film finished, which cleared a lot of the desire for creating. And on Monday this week it even seemed like my whole system was shutting down. I could barely lift my arms or walk, and certainly couldn't concentrate, but managed to get through a day in work even so. Musta looked like a skag-head though. But by Wednesday evening and then today (Thurs - this written the day before posting) it was turned round into deranged, buzzing energy and a mad desire to create something, anything, with whatever came to hand. Hence photos, notes, a prototype paper form, potato prints, blog entries, and a recorded song fragment. Most of which are featured here and in the next post.

Hey, sit back and make the most of my manic phase.

Poetry notes 25/7/6

pole holding one end of washing line corroded almost right thru the top bent over under weight of line + washing. young woman ahead goes down a road out of view looking back. the alley when i get there scattered with glass sparkles morning sun and slightly sinister but i got somewhere else to go. dead pigeons almost every street in different stages of dessication. a fine pale dust gathering thick in every corner and crack like manchester grew and solidified out of a beach and now the heat's making it crumble shells underfoot. + everyday forget the brewery smells like shit.

Notes toward the next short film 30/7/6, 1/8/6 + 3/8/6

WOULD LIKE SOME IDEAS FOR ANOTHER FILM PROJECT. Romantics / Catatonic / Dream visions / Feral humans / Urban predators / Manchester Wilderness / Technology comes alive / Arranging things / Bipolar/Constructing / Assembling a meal / Friends / Kinetic / Low light / Sickness / Disorientation / People miming songs / Wired / Knife amnesty - having to cut bread with candles / 1/8/6 - Spray can + white feathers "Mm - swan fresh." / Coming thru different layers / Potato-print style animation

3/8/6 or - make next short film something really unhinged + kinetic. blur - lights - death and battered things - like an animated lyric or song - what about the music video ideas i had without the music? - spit it out - both phrase + physical reality - orange peel // "SCULPTURAL" FORMS from Duct Tape? // Something about the comment of Syd Barrett's friend about inactivity keeping possibilities open

Song fragment 2/8/6

Cutting up books and magazines
Stealing art where I can
Hide it round a very big house
While the owner's out of town
And leave a nasty surprise behind every door
Nasty surprise behind every door
Nasty surprise behind every door.

Going to cut off all my toes
And plant them in a bowl
And if the only thing they grow is mould
I'll see if I can use it for paint
And leave a nasty surprise behind every door
Nasty surprise behind every door
Nasty surprise behind every door.

Kiss a friend if you're feeling mental, let's make the world a better place. Fuck! Some days you just can't stop it, the only thing to do is ride. I hope someone knows what I mean. Trust me, the next post actually makes sense.

See ya.

hmm i took film in university too.. for a semester... we did a project where we placed a camera in a wheelchair faced up at an odd angle like a catatonic person would be ... and turned it on and wheeled the chair all over school...doing all the things a university student would do during a school day.... lol.. it was hilarious...

Well my only degree to date was English Lit., and the filmmaking/art stuff is purely for pleasure, unless some wealthy maniac out there wants to chuck me money I can squander on quixotic projects.

Still, sounds kind of fun. I want my next film project to be really kinetic, frenetic, and confused. Keep watching the blog meantime, and in about two weeks I'll give you the lowdown on what happened with vagabond, the movie I just finished.
