Parallax is one of those rare and lucky collaborations where there is a great sense of chemistry from the very beginning. Since forming the group in 2008 they have toured and recorded extensively in Europe, and present a selection of this material on their debut album Live in the UK. These musicians are musically so far inside each other’s heads that their improvisations seem to border on the telepathic, and have
forged their own unique take on improvising that seamlessly draws on an array of
influences ranging from Asian folk musics to traditional jazz and abstract
soundscapes. Rustling, crackling, stealthily winding and melodic, the music
moves effortlessly from a mere whisper to intensely suggestive stretches of
rhythmic improvising. Parallax will be on tour to promote the album in China,
Poland, Norway and the UK in 2010.
Support comes from The Noise Upstairs Trio in their second outing together, Rodrigo Constanzo, Anton & Johnny Hunter playing a few different things. Possibly with a special guest, possibly not, you'll just have to find out for yourselves.

The special guest in both cities this month is Daniele Ledda, all the way
from Sardinia, Italy performing solo with his laptop. He studied wind
instruments, piano, composition, electronic music, information technology and
worked as a teacher, and in the field of composition, improvisation, sound
recording, electronic music, music for dance, for video and theater. He
has worked with, among many others; David Shea, Marc Ribot and Elliott
Sharp. He says he "today explores the experience of philosophy in the
practice of contemporary arts. This means the creation of works that coordinate
writing, speech, vision, listening." We say it all sounds very good, so do
make sure you come along.He'll be playing around 9:45pm in either city. Preceding and following that
its the usual melee - bring anything you like to make a bit of a racket, pop
your name in the hat and wait to get involved. Bring laptops, voices, toys,
antiques, instruments, furniture etc etc.
