sound poetry releases to end year + into 2010
September's CD-R was written over a fortnight ago and will be called Rhoad. It will use a large number of pre-prepared sound sources. That includes cassette recordings of radio transmissions, circuit-bending and Buddha Machine at various speeds, microcassette recordings of me reading from my own notes and from magazines recorded at various speeds, and a range of digital field recordings, including some built around physical exertion. There will be a greater 'sound poetry' element in terms of vocal sounds than in recent releases. It will be complete in the next ten days.
October's CD-R is currently being written. It is likely to be called Scrape. This will also contain more vocal sounds than recent releases but will probably be less reliant on recorded sound sources, making use of more low-tech means of generating sound 'live'. The principal exception to this may be sounds from a home-made hydrophone, although this is dependent on my being able to successfully construct one that works.
The writing of November and December's recordings has not yet begun, but each CD will consist of new material.
Perhaps the more exciting news is that sonic obnoxion machine records will continue into 2010. At present the intention is to release one CD-R a month through the year. However the programme will be different from 2009. In January, May and September I will release CD-Rs of my own sound poetry. In March, July and November I will release CD-Rs of my own soundtracks in response to favourite films - these may be released under a pseudonym. More importantly in February, April, June, August, October and December I will release CD-Rs of sound poetry and sound art by other artists. More information on this in due course.
I am interested in hearing from sound poets and sound artists who are interested in being involved. In the first instance contact me at sonicobnox@googlemail.com with expressions of interest/proposals.
