nitemares + vomiting part 2

The final images are five different art projects, in turn -

1. Extremely incomplete, a prototype form for a project intended to be completed in duct tape. There'll probably be a number of different forms progressively refining toward a shape that best matches the currently pretty nebulous idea that's nagging away.

2. Sadly not very successful potato (& one plastic lid) print in oil on greaseproof paper. It's meant to be a portrait of Mark E Smith derived from the photo on the front of The Light User Syndrome. There's something there, but frankly you're better off getting the Fall CD in question and listening to it.

3. A far more successful potato print in ink on wrapping paper. This is most of an abstract design, actually influenced by an article on that chap Syd Barrett mentioned in the previous post. This isn't just thrown together you know, there's a lot of work goes into making santiago's dead wasp so amatuerish. Syd's been in the air a lot recently, there may be more about that later.

4. Continuing the reverse chronology of these five pieces, again entirely purposeful, this drawing is part of the preparation for a currently unfinished project. It's the final drawing from about six pages of sketches for a huge scupture from junk timber, which is about half finished right now. You may notice a similarity in the angles of this and the nighttime photos. It almost makes you think that it must mean something... though it's not clear what though.

5. This evening (3 Aug) santiago was listening to his tape of A Saucerful Of Secrets for the first time in ages. Listening to the second side he was impressed by the really harsh and alien acid-punk sounds, as fresh now as in 1968. Then it became apparent that a build-up of dust was slightly slowing the tape, distorting the sound and causing it to echo, and adding noise over the top. Bit of a disappointment really. Nonetheless, with the tapedeck and tape cleaned Jugband Blues still sounds pretty good - just not quite as fried as it could...

The point being, that apart from a recurrence of some of the angles we've already seen in several images, the photo's badly overexposed and distorted. As usual it came about wholly by accident, taking photos of a small junk sculpture that was a prototype for the currently unfinished piece previously mentioned. The prototype itself is rough and energetic - just not quite as fried as this photo.
