In which the Daily Mail's 'theatre critic' Quentin Letts talks utter shit about Marat/Sade in an entirely unveiled polemic against subsidised arts (as long as they have what he terms a left-wing bias).

No prizes for picking out the many contradictions and misrepresentations perpetrated by Letts.
He even manages to take a swipe at Edward Bond's Saved, the status of which few would argue with.
Strangely no mention of the violence of the Jacobean stage. No mention either of Sarah Kane whose plays on this evidence would have the squeamish Letts ('Urgh, willies... violence... swearing... confrontation... urgh') running from the theatre in a combination of rage and horror.
Nice touch when he implies it's the fault of those filthy foreigners by telling us the German word for this kind of theatre.
