- i just wanted to drop several notes on you :
1) it was nice to formally meet you
2) apologies for drunken talk of transcendentalisms slurred such uppa fruitdish, i was on some sorta 'contact high' or something...usu. i don't come off as so vehement...as for spirituality, i consider myself a phildickien.
3) i'm attempting to do a short per by per review of spl/tng,i posted it on the apgolog under the announcement for ish #2...and man, #2 is topshelf stuff & i'm really digging it...big ups for a job well done...i'm really into books as object/form etc. & really appreciate the different ways bookmaking can be approached...a publication like ferrumwheel takes this impetus & really runs the gamut, i was blownupnaway when i came 'cross their stuff: http://ferrumwheel.blogspot.com/
4) i've also been trying to get my shit together for doing a bloggything, since it's free it'd be worth the investment!...i've gathered some images (and alotta debris) as of late and got a photobucket place to store them... so i'll be ready to go once i get it rolling textwise.
5) Prosopopoeia (Greek `making a person'): lending speech to something inanimate. See also Personification.
6) "If your ear is acute you sound your poem in silence." —Lorine Niedecker
7) after the lang-harm, i was somewhat altered by the livingness of it,usu. i'm never thinking along the lines of performance, but something bubbled up via my tendency to write allover myself, esp. when i'm drunk (sharpie is best),it made me think of a piece & i hadto jot it down lest forget it ( and perhaps something like this has already been done?), but here it is regardless :
body reading : written allover body, read by an onlooker :
[staert piece via #1 enters wearing plain white cotton full-sleeve dress written on & allover w/ sharpie,a large writing pad is also on stage propped onna stand as so the audience can see it] . [#2 enters & beginsreading the text from the dress] . [#1 begins writing (possibly the text as it is read,or creating an independent text or drawing pictures or large arc gestural drawing or automatic writing ala artbrut style or a combo of them all?)] . [when #2 has finished reading all the text on #1's dress, #1 tears the page from the pad (the page should be quite full)]
[#2 uses scissors to cut the dress straight down the back] . [#3 enters to assist removal of the dress in as elegant manner as possible via #1 w/ outstretched arms & #3 softly pulling it away, hanging it on a clothesline ensuring the arm-sleeves are outspread cuff to cuff,a small quiet fan (possibly an oscillating fan) should be positioned such as to gently supply a breeze to slightly animate the dress ;it would be nice if the ink used for dresstext was nonpermament and would easily bleed if sprayed upon with a water : slightly damp w/ bleeding ink blowing in the fanbreeze thru the reading] . [#3 now picks up the page which #1 tore from the pad & begins reading it in a quiet but audible manner] . [#1 is now near nude (possibly a flesh colored bodysuit if participant shy about nera nude exposure, tho actual flesh wld be best), there is more writing allover #1's body...#1 again writes upon the pad as before] . [#2 begins reading text from #1's body, all the while #3 is still reading the first page from #1's pad] . [when #2 is finished reading the body text, #2 will take the first pad page from #3, then #2 will tear the 2nd pad page which #1 has written, ensuring to be holding the first pad page outward to the audience while reading the second page (holding both pages) ] . [#3 now takes the dress down & refits it to #1] . [etc] . [...?...]
M might ask if you trust yourself and lead you stepbystep through the process but D will probably throw you right in. Not from any desire to confuse or discomfort but to circumvent your preprepared responses. Skillinitself is not that useful, skillinitself is a mouse finding its way through a maze. We can get some useful data and that's about it. Watching how the mouse responds to a brandnew maze, being the mouse in a brandnew maze, or being the mouse in a place that looks like a maze but isn't is far more interesting. Now you have to figure out the rules and limitations and try to figure out which of those are in your head. Rewind. This is old territory. I'm running round in circles. Ifnot tracing my way through a familiar maze atleast tracking down my own scent in an ever smaller circle. Sometimes it's like your work is giant Droste-effect game. You're proudly holding a book with a photo on the back in which you're proudly holding a book with a photo on the back in which you're proudly holding a book for as long as the picture resolution allows. It's constantly appalling to revisit notebooks from five years ago only to find thisweek's revelation in similar words.
M might ask if you trust yourself and lead you slowly through a process of self-realisation, not really push you that far, but help you to become more aware of what it is you're doing. D will take you to unfamiliar situations and say you can find your way out by using the skills you have. You may never encounter anything so exilarating again, and may never do anything so frightening again, and forever stay within a smaller orbit, but the chances are you have a better idea why. D is always within reach, ready to grab you if you start to go under, and of course you can always walk away. But once again it's a mirror in a mirror in a mirror in a mirror and on. But what it shares with the mirror is the unstable view, the sense of vertigo, and the slight sickness.
But this was written by one person and the point is you know the rest, it's not a process that can depend on just one. But then again I would say that wouldn't I? I just spent ages saying exactly the same thing in different ways, and now I'm doing more or less the same. If you magnify this full point you'll probably find the whole of this text hidden there.
a well-crafted & insightful piece of writing there, mate. thanx for taking the time.
it caught me off-guard, which is always good, it made an impact on me --- 3 strophes to the point.

i was prompted to dig up an old email in response to yr poem, the email was to an influential poet here in the local scene -- he never responded to my email, it felt good to "make it public" & release that particular ache of disregard.
i was enthralled by the writing technique you employed & urge you to continue exploring that particular avenue of self to other, the questioning & answering, the direct statement, the concrete details of abstract conceptions, the psycholinguistic hint of a therapeutic session.
