poetry link frenzy
As a result of doing an MA santiago has become increasingly aware of the alternatives to 'mainstream' poetics, be they concrete poetry, visual poetry, sound poetry, conceptual poetry, constrained writing or something else again (Oulipo, Fluxus etc.) - go search for them yourself.
Part of the degree is obviously to familiarise yourself with what's going on at present, partly with a view to a kind of work placement in the fourth semester, but mainly to help you find where you belong, or want to be as a writer. For santiago, and presumably for some of the others taking the degree, it's also a a chance to start preparing in case we try to go on to a research degree afterwards.
Which is a long way of saying here are some links you might find interesting, infuriating, or a bit meh. Thanks to Dan Waber who pointed me toward the first four of these:
Mail Art - info from dmoz - as with all of these, there are other references out there.
Flux List Blog - Fluxus related stuff, obviously.
Light & Dust Anthology - Links to a lot of books.
Spidertangle - I don't rightly know, but a lot of fascinating material linked to.
Logolalia - Came across Dan Waber here - primarily through -
Vispoets - Online community. Some great material here.
And finally a small number of practitioners. The list is short because it could go on for pages, and there are lists elsewhere - try Vispoets first.
Caroline Bergvall - santiago's introduction to this world.
Geof Huth - yes, that's the spelling.
Christian Bök - also search for Xenotext.
