tamlyn 11 begins
My project for Manchester Art Crawl, tamlyn 11 started on Saturday this weekend and will continue until Saturday 16 July.
The durational, performative multimedia text with slightly different real-world and online iterations explores the folk ballad Tam Lin in the setting of contemporary Manchester.
Which means - online - that I send tweets with a #tamlyn11 hashtag where they seem to have some relevance to my exploration of the narrative, take photos, and make audio and video recordings to be uploaded.
The real-world actions include leaving chalk text in places, gathering materials to create objects, creating those objects and leaving them somewhere - usually where they were made, and performances. Most of these actions are unwitnessed - and not all are documented.
My preparation and some reflections on the process of creating are here on the project blog.
In this post are a series of images from the project so far. All except for the second photo which shows the found (and some bought) materials used to create the first object shown in the photo immediately above have been posted on the project blog.
Above is the second object created - a grid of nine groups of three sticks pushed into the ground under trees in Chorlton Water Park. I got many, many insect bites in the process. Below is the skeleton of a motorcycle not far away from my construction of sticks.
And finally a video of a text chalked in the park. The project continues - and even on my working days material will be generated and uploaded.
